Balloon Printing FAQs
Printing custom balloons is a great way to promote your business, create your own personalised party decorations or just get an important message across. Best of all, it’s an affordable and cost-effective solution.
So how do you go about printing custom balloons? If you’ve never had the chance to try balloon printing before and have been somewhat curious about the process, we answer some of the most asked balloon printing questions below to help you choose the best options to suit your needs.
How Does The Balloon Printing Process Work?
It’s quite a simple process really. Simply choose between latex or foil balloons, decide on a balloon size and colour and then tell us what you would like us to print onto your balloons.
Don’t forget to choose your ink colour/s, provide us with your photo, artwork or logo and then we’ll take it from there and go into the production process.
What Can I Print Onto Balloons?
Custom balloons are versatile and have a range of uses including business promotions, for decorating at special events and occasions, as well as communicating a message. Things that can be printed onto custom balloons include: branding, business logos, artwork design, photographs or a short personalised message.
What Balloon Size Is Right For Me?
For most events and occasions such as birthdays or parties, a 30cm sized latex balloon will be perfect for your needs. For greater exposure and visibility (e.g. to promote your brand or for events in wide open spaces), choose the 40cm or 72cm latex balloons.
If none of those sizes are suitable, why not create a custom sized (and shaped) custom printed foil balloon to suit your specific needs.
What Types Of Balloons Can Be Customised?
Both latex and foil balloons can be easily customised with balloon printing. Custom printed latex balloons generally come in a round or heart shape while foil balloon shapes can be fully customised in terms of shape and size for a unique, one-of-a-kind balloon decoration.
What’s The Difference Between Latex Or Foil Balloons?
Latex balloons are elastic and made from rubber, latex polychloroprene or nylon fabric. They come in two varieties: regular latex and helium latex, with helium latex balloons being specially designed to tolerate helium inflation as they are made in a way that prevents the helium from escaping from the balloon.
Foil balloons on the other hand are less elastic and more prone to popping in the heat as they can’t expand and contract as easily as latex balloons. To prevent foil balloons from popping, use them indoors in cooler temperatures and where possible, underinflate them slightly to allow for the helium inside to expand.
Which Balloons Last The Longest?
In terms of longevity once inflated, regular latex balloons generally last for 8-10 hours, helium balloons up to 4 days and foil balloons from a week or up to two weeks (and can be reused over and over again).
How Long Will A Latex Balloon Remain Inflated When Inflated With Air?
As long as your balloon is placed away from heat and direct sunlight, it can remain inflated with air for months.
How Many Colours Can I Print Onto My Balloon?
You can generally print up to 4 colours on one side of the balloon. Just be sure to keep a minimum of a 3-5mm gap between colours in your artwork to allow for movement of the balloon during the printing process.
Can Balloons Be Printed On More Than One Side?
Yes, balloons can be printed on more than one side. There are also several printing options available to choose from when considering which sides to print:
- One colour printed on one or both sides.
- Two colours on one side, or one colour ink on one side and a different colour printed on the other side.
- Two colours on both sides.
- Two colours one side and one colour on the other side.
- Three colours one side of the balloons.
- Three colours one side and one colour on the second side.
- Four spot colours on one side.
- One colour on four sides. Printed on the top of the balloon if required as well.
How Long Can I Store Unprinted Balloons?
Uninflated balloons can be stored for at least 12 months if kept dry and away from light.
